Traineeship, Technical Cooperation
Brussels, September 2012 – February 2013.

The ILO-Brussels Technical Cooperation Internship Programme is meant for enthusiastic and flexible persons looking for work experience in an international/EU affairs environment based in Brussels.

General information
● Title of post: full-time technical cooperation internship;
● Office: ILO Office for the European Union and the Benelux countries;
● Duration of contract: minimum 3 months - maximum 6 months;
● Traineeship period: September 2012 – February 2013.

The purpose of granting traineeships is threefold
● To enable carefully selected graduate students to participate in the multicultural and intergovernmental work of the ILO;
● To offer the opportunity to the participants to acquire knowledge of the ILO’s “real work” environment and to deepen their understanding of the ILO’s goals, policies and activities;
● To enable the ILO-Brussels Office to benefit from the assistance of persons with relevant knowledge and skills in areas within the scope of activities of the ILO.

The tasks will include:
● Assist in the research and identification of financing opportunities for ILO’s technical cooperation projects;
● Assist in the preparation of ILO’s responses to call for proposals ensuring efficient coordination between ILO-Brussels, ILO’s Regions and ILO’s Technical Departments;
● Assist in the preparation of training materials, manuals and guidelines and in the organization of workshops and training;
● Attend conferences and meetings and prepare inputs, presentations as well as minutes;
● Any other tasks relating to the work of the Office, as requested by the Programmes and Operations Officer or the ILO-Brussels’ Director.

Eligibility and prerequisites
● Have a university degree, or equivalent (preferably in Political Science / International Relations, Law, Economics);
● Possess a strong interest in international and European political and technical issues and knowledge of the ILO, EU Institutions and the UN system;
● Have a deep interest and good understanding of EU technical cooperation programmes, priorities and financing opportunities;
● Be proficient in English and French; knowledge of Spanish would be an asset;
● Have excellent writing communication skills;
● Be computer literate (Word, Excel and Power Point).

What we offer
● 6 month internship
● Full time position of 40 hours per week
● Financial compensation of 500 €/month
● 2.5 days of leave per month
● Please note that the intern will have to meet all expenses for travel and subsistence and must have adequate health insurance
