The Max Planck Foundation for International Peace and the Rule of Law (MPFPR) is based in Heidelberg. It continues the extensive consulting, training and research projects of the 'Global Knowledge Transfer' working group, which existed from 2002 to 2012 at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law (MPIL). Within the framework of its research activities, MPFPR carries out several 'Global Knowledge Transfer Projects' in various countries. MPFPR projects focus on capacity-building and academic research in the fields of public international law, comparative constitutional law and the rule of law in countries in transition.
Research fellows are engaged in legal research, the organization and conducting of project activities such as workshops, as well as liaising with local project partners.

A postdoctoral position in the study of the relationship between judicial independence and human rights in new democracies is available at the Netherlands Institute of Human Rights (SIM) of the Utrecht University. Training Seminar on the 'EU Charter of Fundamental Rights'

The object of this training seminar is to explore the scope and usefulness of the Charter for the legal practitioners facing the national courts or the Court of Justice of the EU, mostly by means of preliminary reference. Among the existing mechanisms, specific attention will be drawn to the hypothesis when the Charter can be directly applied, as well as to the main fields of application when a specific appeal is submitted. The seminar is conceived not only for practitioners who are specialized in EU Law, but for all jurists who – despite not treating EU files frequently – can be confronted with different case law where EU Law applies, and who can then uphold the rights guaranteed by the Charter against a national law or legal practice (family law, criminal law, asylum and immigration law, free movement of goods and workers, right of respect of private life, etc.)

Front Line Defenders invites applications for an internship to support its work in Middle East & North Africa. The intern will work in close coordination with the Protection Coordinator for the Middle East & North Africa region, and will provide support to other relevant staff across other programme areas as required. The internship will be for 6 months and based in Front Line Defenders' office in Blackrock, Co. Dublin, Ireland.

The European Human Rights Advocacy Centre (EHRAC) assists lawyers and NGOs from Russia, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia in taking cases to the European Court of Human Rights and provides legal training to build the capacity of the human rights communities.
