The Universal Tolerance Organization (UTO) is an independent non-governmental organization established in 2011 in Norway. It is dedicated to:
• Global peace, security, justice, democracy, respect for human rights and sustainable development through tolerance;
• Elimination of all kinds of discrimination and monopoly by respecting diversity and pluralism.
 

The UTO appreciates new ideas and perspectives on its work. It is therefore seeking for interns who come from all walks of life and various levels of education – undergraduate and graduates students who have never had a chance to experience such work. The internship programme provides a unique opportunity for successful candidates to experience the organization. It also provides interns with monitoring and networking opportunities. Thus, hardworking, innovative and collaborative persons are welcome to apply for the next internshop programme and help UTO make a change in the world's attitude towards tolerance with regard to gender, race, class, and ethnicity.
Objective
The objective of the internship programme is to enhance skills of young educated people in advocacy for the development of human rights and tolerance, writing and analyzing reports on issues regarding intolerance and injustice in countries with a high degree of human rights violation, drafting statements, researching and petition writing in line with the organization’s objectives. Interns will have a chance to organize and participate in training workshops on protection and provision of human rights, and also advance their communication skills through corresponding with international human rights bodies.

Requirements
• Applicants should be students or graduates of a relevant discipline (e.g. social science, law, human rights law, human rights design, development, sociology, gender or any other related areas), and must have completed at least one full semester by the application deadline.
• Apllicants should be able to communicate fluently in English (both verbally and in writing).
• Applicants should be able to cover costs for travel, accommodation, health insurance, as well as living expenses throughout the duration of the internship.
• Applicants should be able to obtain the necessary visa and arrange his/her travel to Norway.
• Applicants should have basic computer skills.

Duties
•To follow-up the news around the world on human rights issues with regard to gender, class, minorities and ethnicity and conduct analytical reports on specific issues.
• To carry out research on subjects of his/her interest.
• To correspond, lobby with international NGOs for further co-operation.
• To organize and attend international as well as internal meetings, workshops and seminars.
• To update the website with the most burning issues on human rights.
• To advocate for principles of tolerance.
• To coordinating the organization’s activities.
• To prepare presentations and lectures for awareness-raising human rights standards and enhancement of tolerance.

Terms and conditions
• The internship will start on 1 February 2014 and end on 1 May 2014.
• The internship is not paid, but interns will receive USD 250 a month as stipend
• Interns can choose to work full-time (35 hours a week), or part-time(15 hours a week).
