Internship
Brussels, 2012.
Crisis Group is seeking an intern to work at its Brussels headquarters, starting end May 2012, and working with the Online Editor. The intern may also assist the Research Unit with the drafting and publication of Crisis Group’s monthly CrisisWatch bulletin. The internship would suit a broad range of candidates, including those with interests and experience in some combination (and preferably many) of the following: content management systems, social media, international relations, conflict studies, journalism, government and development.
Responsibilities
● Update web content on website, blogs, and intranet;
● Engage professionally with social media such as Twitter, Facebook, and Youtube;
● Monitor success of online efforts;
● Monitor developments in new media;
● Help develop new graphics and content for Crisis Group’s website;
● Assist with the preparation and publication of CrisisWatch; and
● Provide general administrative support
Requirements
● At least an undergraduate degree is required - a degree in multimedia communications, web design, new media, journalism, and/or international relations, politics, conflict studies, with a keen interest in both fields;
● English language skills at native-speaker level;
● Passion for social media and its potential as an advocacy tool;
● Knowledge of Content Management Systems, i.e. Sitecore and Wordpress;
● Good understanding of HTML;
● Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, or other similar software, would be an asset;
● Highly organised and able to pay close attention to detail; and
● Possession of an EU passport, student visa, or other means of working in Belgium for six months without work permit sponsorship from Crisis Group.
Unpaid, but...
Please note that our internships are unpaid, though a small stipend for lunch and transport is provided.
