The Coalition for the International Criminal Court (CICC) is the largest partnership in the world advancing the cause of international justice. Including more than 2,500 civil society
organizations from 150 countries, the Coalition is leading the global fight to end genocide,
war crimes, and crimes against humanity through a commitment to the core values of human rights and justice.
 
The Coalition is offering a Europe Programme Internship, starting 26 January 2015
The Europe Programme Intern will assist with Coalition’s campaigns on:
• Promoting the universal acceptance and ratification of the Rome Statute.
• Promoting the adoption of comprehensive implementation legislation.
• Promoting education and awareness of the ICC and the Rome Statute at the national, regional, and global levels.
• Expanding and strengthening the Coalition's global network.
 
Responsibilities may include:
• Supporting the Coalition’s efforts to increase ratification and implementation of the Rome Statute of the ICC and the APIC in Europe.
• Monitoring and researching the human rights/rule of law contexts of countries in the region.
• Monitoring developments related to the ICC and international justice in the region.
• Monitoring and attending events on international justice, the ICC, and regional or country- specific issues.
• Assisting with communication to stakeholders in the region.
• Conducting membership outreach, including updating the membership database.
• Updating and maintaining contacts database.
• Providing support with letter writing, editing, and translation.
• Undertaking special research projects and assignments as required.

Qualifications
• University level education in International Relations, Political Science, History, Law, relevant Geographic Studies or related fields.
• Excellent written and spoken English. Native or advanced language ability in Russian or Eastern European languages is desirable.
• Excellent research and writing skills.
• Knowledge of the ICC, the EU, and/or human rights issues in the region.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office software.
• Ability to work independently and within the constraints of tight deadlines.
• Strong motivation and interest to work with an NGO on issues pertaining to the ICC.
• Availability on a full-time basis for a minimum of three months, preferably longer.

Remuneration
Unfortunately, internships at the Coalition are unpaid. Prospective candidates are recommended to seek financial assistance from their academic institutions or seek outside fellowships, grants and personal resources. The Coalition cannot sponsor individuals applying for internships to help them obtain visas.
